Context

On the category listing page (XLP), round category and brand banners were cropping important information — often the brand's own logo — undermining their purpose.

Role & Collaboration

Leading design across two connected initiatives on the same page: the banner redesign and a filter-bar consolidation, working within known business constraints while pushing for a design that serves both discovery and conversion.

Process

Redesigned the round banner into a square, "live" banner that also functions as a filter — so instead of being a static crop-prone image, it lets users keep browsing and narrowing their search without losing visual context. Separately, consolidated a two-row filter bar into a single row, prioritizing filters based on Baymard Institute best practices for filter ordering.

Solution

A dual-purpose banner (visual + functional filter) that preserves brand imagery while adding utility, and a streamlined single-row filter bar surfacing the most relevant filters first.
